This is a ongoing series of photographs taken in order to focus on the beauty of mundane everyday activities. They are captured in direct connection to my personal understanding of the Japanese philosophy: Wabi-Sabi.
Trying to make sense of an idea that has its roots outside of my cultural identity is difficult and therefore this series is my personal interpretation of a term that in itself is challenging to define. I am not intending to make something that represents Wabi-Sabi because through my understanding the beauty of Wabi-Sabi is hidden in moments of the everyday and ordinary – moments that fade, are unrepeatable and sometimes ugly. Curiosity, fascination and awareness help to make them visible.
